Tired of These Frustrations?
If any of this sounds familiar, you are in the right place.
Uncertain Quality
Big-box stores and online options make it hard to know if a floor will actually look good and last in your home.
We bring real samples to your home so you choose in your own lighting.
Weeks-Long Timelines
Other contractors string flooring projects out for weeks while your home stays in chaos.
Most installations completed in 3 days, scheduled within a week of signing.
Contractor Horror Stories
Missed deadlines, hidden fees, and sloppy work plague the flooring industry.
Licensed (ROC #336899 & #349964), bonded, and we communicate at every step.
Luxury vinyl plank has overtaken every other wood-look material in Arizona homes — and the reason is simple. LVP is waterproof, it doesn’t move with heat the way hardwood and laminate do, and a properly installed floor lasts 20 to 30 years with minimal maintenance. Zona Floors installs LVP across Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Gilbert, and the rest of Maricopa County, with most whole-home projects finishing in three days.
If you’re still deciding whether LVP is the right material for your home, our luxury vinyl plank flooring guide walks through the product itself — wear layers, core types, cost ranges, and how it compares to hardwood and laminate. This page covers our installation service specifically: how we do the work, why prep matters, and what to expect from start to finish.
What Makes LVP Installation Different
LVP is not “easier” than other flooring. It is faster, cleaner, and less invasive — but the prep requirements are unforgiving. A rigid core does not flex over humps or dips in the subfloor. If the slab isn’t flat, the planks separate at the seams within months. Most LVP failures we get called to fix were not product failures. They were installation shortcuts.
A correct LVP installation depends on three things done well: slab flatness verified to within 3/16 inch over 10 feet, proper expansion gaps at every perimeter and obstruction, and the right product spec for the room. Skip any one and the floor doesn’t last.
Our LVP Installation Process
1. Free In-Home Consultation with Samples
We bring physical LVP samples to your home so you can compare them in your actual lighting, next to your existing cabinetry and trim. Showroom lighting flattens out the color variation and texture you care about — the same plank looks different in a south-facing Phoenix living room than it does under fluorescent lights in a warehouse. We walk through wear-layer options, plank widths, and finish styles, and we explain the trade-offs between SPC and WPC cores so you can make a real decision instead of a guess.
2. Slab Assessment & Written Estimate
Before we quote a number, we check the existing floor and the slab beneath it. That includes a moisture reading on the concrete, a flatness check across the rooms in scope, and a look at door clearances, transitions, and stair connections. You get a detailed written estimate covering materials, labor, demolition, subfloor prep, and any unusual items (stair noses, wide transitions, custom thresholds). Our pricing is itemized — what we quote is what you pay.
3. Tear-Out & Subfloor Leveling
On install day, we start with demolition of the existing flooring. Old tile gets pulled and mortar ground off. Carpet and pad come up and any tack strips are removed. Once the slab is exposed, we verify flatness with a 10-foot straightedge. Low spots get filled with self-leveling compound; high spots get ground down. If we find moisture issues — slow leaks, HVAC condensation, slab humidity above LVP manufacturer limits — we tell you before we lay product. Our guide on why subfloor leveling matters explains what this stage looks like in detail.
4. Underlayment & Plank Installation
Acoustic underlayment goes down per manufacturer specification — most quality LVP includes pre-attached underlayment, but additional pad is sometimes warranted for second-story installs or noise-sensitive spaces. Planks click-lock together with proper offset patterns to avoid weak rows, and we maintain a 1/4 inch expansion gap at every wall, cabinet, and fixed obstruction. The pattern layout starts from the longest sightline so the eye reads continuity, not seams.
5. Trim, Transitions & Final Cleanup
Baseboards, quarter-round, door transitions, and stair treads go in last. We use color-matched transitions between flooring types and trim out doorways so nothing snags a vacuum or a sock. The crew vacuums, mops, and hauls all debris off-site before we leave. You walk on the floor the same day.
Best Rooms for LVP in an Arizona Home
LVP works well almost everywhere in a typical Arizona home:
- Living rooms, family rooms, hallways — Wide planks (5”–9”) read modern and handle the foot traffic. SPC core resists the heat differential between sun-exposed rooms and shaded ones.
- Kitchens — Waterproof construction handles dropped ice, dishwasher leaks, and pet bowls. Easier on the knees than tile.
- Bathrooms and laundry rooms — Sealed perimeter seams turn LVP into a true waterproof system. Many homeowners are now choosing LVP over tile in secondary bathrooms.
- Bedrooms — Quieter underfoot than tile, warmer in winter mornings, and pet-friendly.
LVP is not the right choice for outdoor patios, full bathroom shower floors, or rooms with prolonged direct sunlight against a south- or west-facing wall (UV exposure will eventually fade any vinyl product over years).
Why Arizona Homeowners Choose Zona Floors for LVP
We have completed over 350 flooring installations across the Greater Phoenix area. Whole-home LVP projects of 1,000+ square feet typically finish in three days — a pace that surprises homeowners used to multi-week timelines from larger contractors. Read what to expect during a 3-day flooring installation so you can plan your week around the project.
We are licensed by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC #336899, CR8 Floor Covering classification), bonded, fully insured, and active members of the Tempe and Chandler Chambers of Commerce. We have been a Thumbtack Top Pro three years running (2023, 2024, 2025).
If you already bought your LVP from Home Depot, Floor & Decor, or a specialty retailer, our installation-only service provides the same expert labor at labor-only pricing — same crew, same quality guarantee.
